About ShyPDF

ShyPDF is a set of PDF tools that run in your browser. The files you choose are never uploaded to a server: merging, splitting, compressing and encrypting are all done by your own device.

Why build it this way

Most online PDF tools start by uploading your file to their servers. For contracts, financial statements or a scan of your passport, that is a lot of trust to place in a website. Doing the work in the browser removes the question entirely — a PDF that is shy about leaving home.

How it works

The tools are built on open-source libraries — pdf-lib, PDF.js and qpdf compiled to WebAssembly — that your browser downloads once and then runs locally. See Open-source licenses for the full list.
