The edits people actually need, without an editor suite

Most “edit a PDF” moments are small: add a line of text where a form expects handwriting, highlight the clause that matters, white-out an old phone number and type the new one over it. ShyPDF puts those four moves — text, highlight, white-out, black box — one click away. Place an element on the page, drag it into position, resize it by its corner handle.

Text is drawn using the fonts on your device, so Chinese, Japanese, Arabic or any other script your system can display works. Each PDF page keeps its quality; your edits are drawn on top and become a permanent part of the saved copy.

Editing a PDF should not mean uploading it

The PDFs people edit are contracts, applications, statements and IDs — documents at the top of the do-not-upload list. Here the whole edit happens in your browser tab; the file never leaves your device, and the original on disk stays untouched.

A PDF stores drawn characters rather than editable paragraphs, so no browser tool can retype existing text in place. To rewrite a document, convert it with PDF to Word, edit properly, and convert back with Word to PDF.

Questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs inside your browser, so your files never leave your device. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.

Can I change the text that is already in the PDF?

Not directly — a PDF stores drawn characters, not editable paragraphs. You can cover the old text with a white box and type the correction over it. To rewrite a document properly, convert it with PDF to Word, edit it there, and convert back.

Is a black box a safe way to redact?

It hides the content in every viewer, and because ShyPDF draws it into the page image the underlying text is also removed from text selection on that area. Still, for legally sensitive redaction, delete the text at the source before making the PDF.
